What is AQUASOFT ® ?
AQUASOFT range of products are ORGANOPHOSPHOROUS Compounds and are known as ORGANOPHOSPHONATES. They are versatile Speciality - Performance CHELATING AGENTS useful for various industrial applications. These phosphonates are hydrolytically stable, environmentally safe and are not affected by chlorine. The versatility of phosphonates makes them cost effective & a superior replacement for other sequestrates and allied chemicals. Various grades of AQUASOFT ® are available as white, free flowing solid easily soluble in water or as aqueous solutions. Their CHELATION VALUE varies from 100 to 600, thus making them several fold effective than conventional Chelating Agents E.D.T.A, N.T.A, Citric Acid, Gluconates and Polyphosphates. AQUASOFT can be used in place of conventional chelating agents without process modification for effectively removing calcium, magnesium, iron, copper, and other heavy metal ions .
What is a CHELATING AGENT ?
A Chelating Agent is a chemical which forms a bond/complex with metallic ion(s) in water/product/system and prevents the precipitation of the metallic ion(s) and also its [metal ion(s)] interference with the system/product's performance.
What is CHELATION VALUE ?
Chelation Value Means :
"Milligrams of Calcium Carbonate Chelated per gram of AQUASOFT ® at pH 11.0"
So if we say that Chelation Value of AQUASOFT ® is 100 it means : “ 1 gm of AQUASOFT which Chelate 100mg of Calcium Carbonate at pH 11.0 ”
Where is AQUASOFT ® used in the Industry?
Aquaculture: prevents scaling and fouling in water, boosts shrimps and plankton survival and growth.
Cleaners: boosts cleaning performance by loosening soils and dissolving scale; prevents degeadation of colour, fragrances and clarity.
Personal Care: increase effectiveness and improves stability of creams, oils, ointments and other preparations.
Food and Beverage: preserves colour, flavour, texture and prevents rancidity.
Oilfield Applications: removes and prevents scale in drilling, production and is also used in revival of dead oil wells.
Pharmaceutical: preserves colour and flavour, stabilizes vitamins.
Photography: improves final image quality.
Polymers: improves multiphase stability and polymerization characteristics. Prevents polymer breakdown and also performs synergistically in formulations.
Pulp and Paper: Reduces brightness reversion and acts as a stabilizer for Peroxide during bleaching.
Scale Removal and Prevention: cooling towers, boilers, heat exchangers and glass lined kettles.
Soaps and Detergents: improves hard water performance, foam and lather properties and shelf-life.
Textiles : increses cleaning stage effectiveness; stabilizes bleach baths; reduces fibre degradation; promotes brightness and more uniform dyeing.
